Spiritual Sunday
5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
In Good
Times and Bad, God is with us. Don’t forget to serve Him.
Job 7: 1-4, 6-7
1 Corinthians 9 16-19, 22-23
Mark 1:29-39
Wow!! Talk about being depressed…. In the first reading out
of the Book of Job, Job is going on and on about how stinking bad his life is.
“Is not man’s life on earth a drudgery??” or this quote: “Remember, my life is
like the wind, I shall not see happiness again.” Man is he down. Reminds me of the news article going around
that reading Face book makes you super depressed, because all people post are
the happy things they have been doing.
Now, I haven’t read the entire book of Job, but from what I hear, God
comes through in the end. I hope
so!! We just have to remember to put our
trust in God. He is there with us
through the happy Face book days, and the sad “life sucks” days.
In the 2nd reading, St. Paul tells us that he was
put here on earth to share the Gospel.
Now, in order to do this, he is going to “gauge” his audience as they
say. If I have a weak audience, I too
shall become weak, in order to serve God.
That is St. Paul’s job. This is
what he’s been called to do, so Just
.Do. It. He Serves God.
In the Gospel we see Jesus healing Peter’s mother in
law. The first thing that she does when
healed is to turn around and serve Jesus some food. So the question we ask is “ when God heals
you on those bad days, what do you immediately do?. Do you serve him or serve yourself??
So serve God on Sunday.
But don’t forget to serve him on a terrible Monday drive home from work,
that really busy Thursday at the office, and also the fun Tuesday night ski
outing with your kids. Serve him in Good
Times and Bad.
Have a blessed week,
MFM
This is so true. We need to serve Him every day. Not just on Sunday. Thank you for sharing these thoughts with us.
